I choose Joy!!

Anyone else suffer from them?? Please share what works for you!! Have a great long weekend everyone, I plan on watching the labor day classic, football is one of my favorite sports to watch and of course I am a Rider Fan!!

Pay It Forward
Have you ever done a Pay it Forward?? The feeling of giving something to a random person is one like no other. I have done several "pay it forwards" with Facebook were you do a pay it forward to the first 5 who respond. It was great to show up with a gift or send something to those farther away a little surprise in the mail. Once, while we were staying at a hotel in the city, I lost my cell phone somewhere. I was frantic, as it was a new iPhone 5. Luckily for me, the key cards for the hotel were in the case with my phone and the lady who found it was honest enough to return it to the front desk. I was actually tracking the phone with the 'Find my iPhone" app. (download it now, if you don't have it already!!) and we could see it was at the hotel, so went down to the front desk and they were just trying to call our room. I hugged the lady and asked if I could give her something, she just replied "No", just glad to help out!! Well I was so GRATEFUL that the next day I went to Tim Horton's and bought a cup of tea and paid with a $50, and told the cashier to keep the change and pay for the next orders until the money was gone!! It felt great to do something anonymous.
I truly feel that what you give out will come back to you, maybe even 10 times what you give out. Today, I gave a way 4 bags of clothes to someone who was very grateful to receive them. I have done quite a bit of shopping lately, and my closets over runneth!! So I housecleaned them and offered them for FREE on Facebook and had several replies. It makes you feel good to help out. Even in today's world, there are still people who have financial issues, I was there once and who is to say that I won't be there again. So give people, give (if you can)!! You will thank yourself!!

Be Grateful for Volunteers
Well my weekend was relaxing but productive all in rolled into one! Sunday's rain totaled over 2 inches which is way to much with harvest just around the corner, but am grateful we didn't get as much as other places in the province.
So one of the hobbies my hubby and I enjoy is snowmobiling! My husband especially is happiest out on the trails, and we are so grateful to live only a few miles from groomed trails that connect to the rest of the provincial trail system. And because we are so fortunate to live in this area, we both volunteer alot of our time to the local snowmobile club. I am Secretary/Treasurer and my husband doesn't have a title but puts in many, many days volunteering with trail clearing, marking trails and firewood gathering. We have numerous volunteers in our club and all very eager to help out. Our year end is July 31, so I have been busy with getting that all up to date and managed to get pretty much caught up the last few days.
We also volunteer in other organizations (more about them in future blogs), and fully believe that volunteers make the world go around, without them so many charities, fundraisers, hopitals, and major events would not exist or if the did would be not as efficient or successful. BE GRATEFUL to all those who volunteer, Thank a volunteer today! I am grateful to be able to contribute to my community, volunteering is very fulfilling, but Thankless job. My husband and I do not do it for recognition, but for how we feel being able to give back, enriching the lives of others and making events in our community successful.
How do you volunteer??
Live Life Gratefully and be a volunteer!

Grateful for Weekends
Well it's Friday today and that means WEEKEND!! Grateful for time for relaxing, quilting and enjoying the last few weekends before harvest is in full swing. In-laws are away so we will be babysitting their little dog, Snoopy! She's always glad to come for sleepover! Hope to get together with friends but haven't heard back from them yet, so could end up being a quiet weekend, which is fine by me, I am always grateful for time with friends, or time spent puttering around the house.
Last night's pampering was so much fun!! We had pedicure's and my feet and legs never felt better!! Feeling so grateful for my friends and the time and fun we had together. On the way to the venue, I received a call from my youngest daughter, who works in the oilfield, she got hit in the face with a pipe wrench. Grateful she wasn't hurt except for a little cut and bruise, but it could have been so much worse. She had burned her hand the day before so just hoping that nothing else happens today!!!
Went to town today and stocked up groceries and some of my favorite wine, and picked up my quilts from Heritage Place that were on display for the quilt show all week long. As I wondered around the old Train Station I felt this wave of gratefulness come over me. Here in our little town, we have an old Heritage Train Station and our quilt group had all their lovely quilts displayed, it was a beautiful sight!! And driving downtown, it was like I was seeing the town for the first time, seeing the people wondering on the sidewalks chatting away, I felt a sense of calm come over me, it was a nice feeling.
Tell me your weekend plans!

Grateful for Friends
My husband and I had a nice evening with friends last night, it was a beautiful evening to sit out on the patio, visiting with neighbors we don't see everyday. Grateful! My blood pressure has stayed down, slept good, despite the fact that my remote car starter battery was dying and it was making a noise similar to when the smoke detector battery is low. I woke up this morning to smoke detectors laying all over with the batteries removed, the thermostat taken down and everything unplugged in my office.I think my husband was annoyed to say the least! It made me laugh, and for that I am grateful. Find the joy in everyday things and be grateful and your life will be amazing!!! BTW the remote starter is charging.....
This evening I am going to be pampered at a "Mary Kay" event with some friends, who happen to be twins, one of which came with me to the city the other day. One of them sent a text this am giving the heads up on dress code, dressy. Gotta love friends like that! Looking forward to dressing up, getting pampered and most importantly spending time with two of my besties. I am so Grateful for all my friends in my life, I may not have lots but the ones I have are keepers!!
And speaking of friends, my husband and I are hoping to spend an evening out with some other friends this weekend, go for a drive and out for supper. I will have to text and make plans but otherwise I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend, feeling really grateful for that already.
What are you grateful for today??

Neighbors to Be Grateful For!
Yesterday's migraine is gone, GRATEFUL, blood pressure was high all day but this morning it is low, weird!
And in the mix of everything yesterday, my neighbor calls to see if I want to come over and get some fresh veggies from her garden (I don't grow one, I know right). I managed to go over for a few hours and visit and came home with fresh corn, potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and a small head of cabbage. GRATEFUL for sure. I am truly grateful for all the great neighbors we have were we live. And tonight we will go over to the same neighbors and celebrate her husbands birthday, cause that's what we do in our neighborhood.
The quilt below is one I made for them for their 40th wedding anniversary a couple of years ago, I loved making this one!! Only special people who I am truly grateful for receive gifts of quilts from me.
Tell me about neighbors you are grateful for! Practice gratitude, I promise it will make your life all that much better!!

Be Grateful for the Little Things
Living life being grateful has changed the way I wake up everyday, for one I have woken up! Grateful!
Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment in the city and was grateful to have a friend tag along, without her the day just wouldn't have been the same. We caught up visiting on the drive into the city, did a little shopping and tried to find the Pink Cadillac Diner, which we had no idea were it's located at! A few texts and no help we ended up at Mano's for a wonderful lunch on the outdoor patio.Again Grateful!!!
Then it was off to my doctor's office, which has recently moved into a new building in a new area, Thank-you Google Maps and Diana for navigating us safely and on time! Grateful! In and out in no time, but diagnosed with HIGH Blood pressure, my doctor is concerned, I joke that I drank to much wine last week and not enough water while away on a girls retreat at Falcon Lake Trails Resort in Manitoba. But this is serious, I have suffered from headaches and low energy for months. YIKES!
I will monitor the blood pressure for a few days and have some blood work done, hopeful that my thyroid medication just needs to be changed, after all Google says to lose 10 pounds, exercise and cut out salt, sugar, and processed foods. Like that is gonna happen!! My husband tells me getting old sucks.........
I have a headache go to bed, I text my sisters and girlfriends (whom I am very Grateful for), they tell me the same thing, (maybe I shouldn't be so grateful for them after all) I tell them I hope I don't have a stroke during the night. Obviously, I am writing this, so didn't. Again Grateful.
I will keep you posted as to how things turn out, in the meantime LiveLifeGratefully!! Tell me what you are grateful for!
